A Mermaid, A Sailor, and A Baby

Flashback Friday
Taken on our wedding day, as we were leaving the beach where we eloped. That car was Patrick’s baby before he ever met me. He put $10-11k into making it faster, and the first time I rode in it, I had a meltdown. It was one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever experienced, and definitely a sensory overload. The swiftness and the sounds of that car accelerating.. Dear God. And Patrick said to me, “If you don’t like this car, I’ll get rid of it.” I had just moved out here, and our relationship was new. He loved me more than that car. But I loved him, so I was determined to conquer my fear. I rode in that car, with my eyes closed as I silently prayed, until it wasn’t so frightening anymore. I named her Amelia.. “because she flies.”
Then he became an expecting Daddy, and he sold that car for a 2012 Volvo because it had a backseat & high safety ratings. I was sadder than he was. He cannot wait to be a Dad.
